This coming month sees the return to the UK of the famous Contemporary Legend Theatre from Taiwan, performing their new theatre adaptation of Shakespeare' King Lear. Artisitic Director Hsing-Kuo Wu's goal has invariably been to renew Chinese opera by adapting Western classical plays to the styles and techniques of Peking opera acting. Hsing-Kuo Wu translates the daughters of King Lear into sons, plays all the parts and is accompanied by eight Chinese musicians. CLT's production of King Lear has a unique and rich blend of narrative, movement, costumes and performance. It will be the Contemporary Legend Theatre's second visit to the UK following their successful visit. The performance will take place on 3 consecutive nights at the ICA, from Saturday 9 October to Monday 11 October inclusive. Tickets are available from the ICA box office on 020 7930 3647. Please see their website for up to the minute info at http://www.ica.org.uk
