Screening of "Tigerwomen Grow Wings"

 

The Taipei Representative Office in the U.K. is pleased to sponsor a special screening of "Tigerwomen Grow Wings" at the Goethe-Institut in London on 2nd December (Friday) 2005.

"Tigerwomen Grow Wings", a documentary film by German director Monika Treut. The film depicts the coming of age of a new, democratic Taiwanese society through tracing the life experiences of the opera singer Hsieh Yueh Hsia, the writer Li Ang, and the young film director Chen Yin-jung -- three women of three different generations in Taiwan. The film explores issues of gender, politics, religion and identity in Taiwan's rapidly changing society through the lens of the New German Cinema movement.

The event is being organised by the Goethe-Institut in London in collaboration with Dr Mark Harrison, Westminster University.
