Support to Foreign Sinologists
1. The objective of the programme is to assist foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors, and doctoral candidates from foreign university departments concerned with Chinese studies, as well as researchers at university institutes, in carrying out Chinese studies research in the R.O.C. 2. Highlights of this assistance for research include: a. Providing research materials. 3. Sinologists coming to the R.O.C. with no other subsidy may apply to CCS for travel or research grants. The standards set by the programme for grants are as follows: a. A round trip economy class airfare is available, with reimbursement of recipient's
costs on arrival in Taiwan. 4. The length of research tenure will be limited to a period of three months to one year, and grants will be given based on the actual of research tenure. Aside from transportation and research grants, CCS will subsidise no other expenses. 5. Those receiving subsidies must observe the following obligations: a. No outside employment will be allowed without prior approval of CCS. Concurrent
acceptance of aid from any other organisation in the R.O.C is not permitted. For further information, please contact: Centre for Chinese Studies Fondation Sino-Francaise pour l'Education et la Culture The aim of the grant To provide funds for European specialists to carry out research into arts and culture in Taiwan thereby raising awareness and understanding overseas of Chinese culture on Taiwan. Number of grants available and those who eligible to apply. There are 3 to 4 grants available for each of the following categories: All applicants must have links with a cultural institution or university department in Taiwan, which will provide academic and administrative support to their research. The provisions of the grant The grant provides a return economy class air ticket to Taiwan and a monthly payment to cover living expenses (the amount depends on the category of applicant). The grant for living expenses will also include funds for research fees, expenses for collecting information, study fees, conference and meeting expenses and report fees. The duration of study which will be funded by the grant It is expected that the grant will provide funds for one term or 3-6 months in Taiwan. An extension is possible if necessary but the grant will not fund research for a period above one year. The application procedure All applications should be made by the host institution, university or academic counterpart in Taiwan. 1 Applications should be made by host institutions between 1st and 31st January or
