Study Scholarships for British Students
The Ministry of Education's Chinese Language Scholarship for British StudentsThe aim of the scholarship To provide financial support for students of Chinese Studies in the U.K. who hold a British passport who wish to go to Taiwan to study Mandarin
The provisions of the scholarship A monthly stipend of NT$ 25,000 fro two months or one year's study in Taiwan.
The selection process Selection is by the British Association for Chinese Studies
The number of scholarships available Decided annually.
Those eligible for the scholarship Open to any student on a full-time or part-time Chinese language course in the UK provided the student holds a full UK passport.
The application deadline between the end of January to the beginning February (annually)

Guidelines for Foreign Student Scholarship Applications (Extract)2. All foreign students who are studying in R.O.C. and who apply for the Ministry of Education in Taipei's General Scholarship and Special Scholarship will be handled according to these guidelines. 3. The Ministry of Education's General Scholarship provides a monthly stipend of NT$ 20,000. 4. Applicants for General Scholarships should meet one of the following qualifications: a. the applicant has already studied at a junior college, college, university, or
graduate department of the R.O.C. for at least one academic year. Undergraduates must have
maintained average grades of 60 and above. Grades of 80 and above for conduct must be
maintained. The applicant must have maintained the required course load every semester;
or, 8. The Ministry of Education Special Scholarship grants a monthly stipend of NT$ 25,000 to be borne by the Ministry of Education for the period of the scholarship. 9. The first year of the special Scholarship is awarded by the Ministry of Education. 11. Ministry of Education Scholarships are limited to a term of three years for undergraduates, two years for MA students, and three years for Ph.D. students. Scholarships for students at Chinese language training centres are limited to one year. Foreign exchange students from schools having Ministry of Education approved academic co-operation agreements or reciprocal arrangements with host institutions in the Republic of China may have their scholarships extended for one more year. Grants related to cultural exchange agreements or overseas exchange plans entered into by the Ministry of Education are governed by separate regulations.
