Performance 5: Yi-Tzy Folk Dance Troupe             

The Yi-tzy Folk Dance Troupe , Taiwan was established in 1996 in Jente, Tainan Hsien.  The group members are teenagers who are very fond of traditional dances. There are now 20 group members in the troupe. Most of the dances are those of traditional dances and dances from different races. Since its establishment, the Yi-tzy Folk Dance Troupe have taken part in more than 200 artistic activities and performances in order to promote traditional art and its beauty throughout the world. They have won many prizes in dance competitions held in Taiwan . The troupe is often invited to take part in international artistic activities. It has toured many different places in Taiwan and participated in many international folklore festivals.

The troupe was invited as one of the local groups to perform for Nan-Ying International festival held in Tainan , Taiwan in 1996, 1998 and 2000. In 1997 and 2000, the troupe took part in the International folk festivals in Spain . In 1998, it performed in the International folk festivals in France . In 1999 and August 2001, it participated in the International folk festival in Italy . 

To promote the beauty of traditional dances of Taiwan and to bring joy and happiness to people all over the world with beautiful dances and music is the ultimate goal of the Yi-tzy Folk Dance Troupe. The Yi-Tzy Folk Dance Troupe will be performing in the UK in August at two major festivals (details of which can be found below). Please contact the organisers of the festival for further details.
